Howlite is the stone that whispers silence. Its milky white surface, crisscrossed with thin gray or black veins, resembles still clouds against a bright sky. It is a stone of pure, stripped-down beauty — calm, cool, and deeply centering. When you hold it in your hand, it feels as if your thoughts are slowly falling into place.
Discovered in Canada in the 19th century, the mineral forms in porous, chalky-white nodules that often resemble small cauliflower heads. It is softer than many other stones, making it ideal for carvings, jewelry, and decorative objects. Natural howlite is always white or light gray — the colored varieties on the market are almost always colored versions of the same stone.
